Posted on 06/12/2017
Twenty-three Appleton Area Schools have been recognized by the Wisconsin RtI Center and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) for the 2016-17 school year.

The center’s new Recognized Schools Program celebrates school progress in expanding, refining, and sustaining implementation of a culturally responsive multi-level system of support for improved student outcomes.

Schools are recognized at the bronze, silver, gold, or platinum level in the content areas of reading, mathematics, and behavior.

Berry Elementary:  Bronze Level - Behavior

Message from outgoing Superintendent Lee Allinger and incoming Superintendent Judy Baseman:

"At the foundation of any quality school experience is providing all students with a safe – welcoming – and culturally responsive school environment.

Appleton educators understand the importance of this type of school and classroom environment and strategically work every day to improve in this important area.

Our Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) Programs create the framework that supports this effort. PBIS combines the use of consistent expectations and strategies with student behavioral information to shape improvement efforts. You can learn more about the AASD PBIS efforts here

Evidence of our efforts are reflected in the recent listing of schools that are receiving statewide recognition for their exemplary-ongoing efforts to provide safe – welcoming – and culturally responsive school and classroom environments for all of our students.

Congratulations to each of these school communities for this well-deserved recognition."

With celebration, Lee and Judy.
